InfoSum has today announced that Danvers Baillieu has been appointed as its Chief Operating Officer. Danvers will work closely with the company’s CEO and founder, Nick Halstead, to grow the company as it approaches its first product launch.
Danvers joins from Privax (the company behind the popular VPN service, HideMyAss!) where he had been Chief Operating Officer since 2012, and successfully grew that company before it sold to AVG Technologies in 2015 for a reported $60m. Prior to Privax, Danvers was a solicitor specialising in representing early stage tech businesses, and founded Bootlaw.com, a popular tech/legal meetup group.
Nick and Danvers previously worked together when Danvers was an external legal adviser to Nick’s previous company, Datasift.
CEO Nick Halstead said:
“I set up InfoSum as I could see an opportunity to totally re-imagine how you query a database involving personal information. We are currently developing technology which allows data to be combined without the need for raw data to be sent between companies. I am delighted that our team has been bolstered by the arrival of Danvers, who brings extensive knowledge and experience of data privacy issues, as well as a proven track record in scaling a tech business.”
“As his external legal adviser, there was never a dull moment working for Nick. The work he generated was always interesting and often challenging, particularly when it required new ways to licence data from social media. I am sure that working as his COO will be equally stimulating, and I am excited to be joining InfoSum when it is on the cusp of disrupting data analytics.”
